Tie rod ends

Hello again. The tie rod ends on my truck are still tight, but the covers, springs, and gaskets are shot. Is it worth just doing the "rebuild kits" or just purchasing new ones? I see both DC truckparts and VPW carry the rebuild kits for around $20. With the new ones, is there a part number or source for them through local parts stores? Looking at the PIF, I don't see any cross related numbers other than the: GMC CCKW 2.5 Ton, and a search of that hasn't helped me. Sorry if my questions may seem elementary, I'm learning as I go.
