'48 PW (B1PW) Oil Filter

I'm starting the revival of a good, used '48 PW, and was wondering about alternatives to the original oil filter system. Is it doable to convert it to a modern, spin-off filter? Advisable/not advisable? Looking for suggestions. Thanks for your time and wealth of knowledge and experience.
