raise and post the shop rate for fabrication services to reflect the quality of the work and both you, your son and your customer will be happy. if the quality is high, it usually in line with what the right customer is willing to pay. i take my dodge diesel to local heavy brake and spring shop for brakes and any driveline related item. 120 is the small truck shop rate. they charge 140 for heavy trucks. i request and pay the 140 as they put the truck right in the shop instead of waiting in the small truck queue. I get my truck back same day and I then feel better demanding perfection on the work performed. a pizza, tip, t shirt or hat to the tech goes a long way too.
