The oil ring assembly (3 piece) goes in the last groove before the piston pin, the upper oil control ring goes in the 3rd groove. Since you don't have instructions, that's how I would install it. Did you wash the cylinders with soap and water to remove the hone grit, solvent won't do it?
- Install the three piece - rail gaps apposite sides, center of piston pin hole, and expander gap opposite side of rod oil port or center of piston pin hole if rod has two ports, for maximum oil control. Upper oil control, center of piston pin either side. Compression rings, 90 degrees from upper oil ring gap, opposite side from each other for max compression, otherwise, install them to your preference.
