Two of my three wood burners had coiled spring steel handles (Fishers). My third one had turned wood, apparently like yours. When it had a hot fire going, for more than an hour, the wood handles got hot enough that I had to use gloves to open the door. (Bare hands always on the Fishers spring coils).
So, I found a pair of generic spring handles on eBay. 'Lifted the doors off and took them to my welder where he welded them in place.
Problem solved.
