1952 photo captures New Hampshire district chief Hartwell beside a Power Wagon at the Bald Cap wildfire. The fire burned on the steep slopes of North Bald Cap Mountain in the unincorporated town of Success. Over the course of July and August, the fire charred 84 acres of spruce/for forest; cost $37,162.62; and required firefighter assistance from the University of New Hampshire, Brown County, Franconia Paper Company, and soldiers from Camp Dodge.
