When shifting to reverse two things happen.
The reverse band applies and the direct (3rd)
Gear clutch pack applies.
And also the sprag is used.
If frictions look good, its a seal problem in the pack or the reverse Band Piston.
My money is on the sprag.
They usually show damage, sometimes not.
The sprag will not be in a kit, need bought separate.
Definitely check everything with air while assembling.
