I had a place called Pete’s Gear Shop in Hayward do the work. An engine rebuilder gave me his number. A customer of his gave a glowing recommendation of the shop. I called them up and asked Pete himself if he knew how to work on Mopar Barrel type cased differential third members. He said yes and that he had the tool to unscrew the case cap. Said he had a fabricator make it up for him. When I heard that, I knew this guy was the real deal. Asked him how long it would take to install the R&P along with new bearings, he said about a week or so. Ten days later I picked up the unit. It is tight and quiet and has no leaks. Just remember that his work isn’t cheap, but you get what you pay for. His phone number is (510)537-9446. Hope this helps you out. It’s hard finding shops that know how to work on these old third members let alone have the proper tools to service them.
