Because you need to find someone to make it that agrees that you are using this on the road for your own account. If you read the fine print when buying regular pattern to pattern wheel spacers, it says "for off road use only" or something along those lines. That way they are not liable for a product failure killing someone else that is 3rd party.

However, yes, adapters can be machined there is just not a huge market for them. In about 2 years I'll have my full CNC setup running and will be willing to make odd pieces as I have to make a set of Rockwell 6 on 8-7/8 to MRAP 10 bolt adapters for another project. The materials are expensive for sure, and as are all of the studs. Its a pricey venture but it does allow the use of various types of wheels vs just having a single wheel made with the Budd pattern.

That being said, hit up Stazworks in Washington in regards to the Budd pattern custom wheels. He turns out good work but good isn't cheap...
