Rust in the roof seam like that would make the truck a non-starter for me. The roof seam is pretty complicated and not easy to fix.
I'd not try to fix this truck unless I had another cab, or at least, another roof section.
Why rust in the roof seam, but not so much in other places? The truck probably wasn't exposed to road salt or other conditions which often result in rust in the lower portion of the truck and an early death. Thus, the truck was around long enough to develop rust in the roof seam from exposure to rain.
I have a cab which has no rust but it sits outside. I assume the roof seam will be the first thing to show rust perforation.
