Elenco was converting Ford tractors of the same era to 4-wheel-drive using surplus WC 1/2-ton front axles. I have heard rumors that there were maybe a couple of other companies who were doing the same thing. Elenco was in Illinois though. If you find a company in the Northwest who was converting Ford tractors, I'll bet you find your source. They were probably converting Ford trucks as well. Could have been bank rolled by a prominent high-volume Ford dealer in that area.
