the transfer case must be at the same plane angle that the engine and transmission. it does not have to be in line only be at the same angle. if the engine/trans is 5 degrees downbward towards rear (example) the transfer case must also be. as little as one degree difference in angle will cause severe vibration similar to drive line phasing problems.
