It's the type of gasket, half copper, half paper. Not a good gasket to use unless all machined surfaces are re-machined.

- Do you lug the engine hard? That can build a lot of pressure.

- Is the head warpage greater than .003? Heating/cooling can work the head gasket at thin points on that kind of gasket.

- Do you have a low area between the two cylinders in the thinnest part? This does not allow good sealing, blowing the gasket over time.

- Did you blow the head water jackets to blow out pieces of lose rust? Pieces inevitably will fall out under the head preventing a good seal.

- Did you use a head gasket sealer made to deal with pressure, it does make a difference.

- Were the machined surfaces good and clean prior to assembly?

- Did you retorque after getting the engine to operating temperature, and anytime after that?

Buy a good head gasket!
