We ran it at 1,700 RPM just kinda' loping along at about 190-195 kn. Basically they said to take it real easy on the engines. I guess they're getting hard to come find. #2 ran cooler and lower oil pressure than #1. I pointed that out and they were.. "Ehh, it'll be fine." The pilot did tell me that if we opened them up the thing would "Really go". And seeing that they will fly at nearly 300kn, I'm pretty sure we weren't pushing things hard at all.

Once I calmed down, it was a lot of fun to fly. After you go into a bank to turn, you have to un-bank it or it'll just seems to sit in a spiral. Also, every time I turned, I seemed to gain a couple hundred feet in altitude. I guess I was doing something wrong there. The pilot would point somewhere and tell me. "Go down that way, see if you can find some Japs!" And off we'd go over there.

The entire flight I had no idea where Julie was. The other pilot had her crawl under the cockpit into the bomber's nose. It wasn't 'till after we parked I was able to turn around and ask if she.. Oh I guess she did have a god time! Her eyes were like saucers! "That was tho coolest thing I have ever done in my life!!" She's gushed about it for two days now! I wonder if she's going to start showing me used WWII Bomber ads?
