With a good flushing of the cooling system along with a new water distribution if needed, the old Mopar flatheads will run in cool as a cucumber in hot weather. My father once told me a story about him and my uncle going deer hunting in his 1935 Plymouth PJ coupe. It was early Sept. and the temp was around 100 Degrees. They were heading up a hilly 2 lane forest road. According to him, he was passing all kinds of cars pulled over to the side of the road due to overheating. He never stopped once on the long incline and his temp gauge never read over 160 on the 212 degree numbered gauge. I also doubt he was running anti-freeze back then as this was right after he had returned from his service with the USAAF in Europe. Those Mopars were well engineered vehicles got their time.
