I borrowed one from my local mechanic. The one I got from the auto store wasn't bright enough for me to see the timing marks. And I have a 12V machine. The one I borrowed was better, still not wonderful though..
What I really miss is an ignition scope like we had in the 70s. I've even thought about making myself one.
