Dave,
I grew up in Montauk, N.Y., three blocks off the Atlantic ocean, where any exposed metal that had a trace of iron would magically oxidize in front of your eyes. It gave a new meaning to swiss cheese. My mom bought a Pontiac and in six weeks the car had spots of rust on the roof. So much for if the car needed it the manufacturer would produce it.
I have dealt with ZIEBART for all of my new cars for the past 15 years. They have packages at half of the price your dealer is asking and will warranty their work forever as long as you bring your car back for a yearly check/touch up, (about $45.00...That includes a complete cleaning inside and out, repair of undercoating damage, waxing and fabric cleaning/protection reapplication).
No rust yet on any of my cars/trucks, even after 150,000 miles in North East winters/salted roads, and summer salt air.
Eddie
