I recently was having trouble with a brand new Dodge 251 engine. I could not get it to run well and every part was brand new. Everything that is but the distributor. Once I removed the dist. and checked for bushing wear I was astonished at the deterioration. The points were probably moving .010 or so as the engine speed increased. It was bad enough that when I inspected my brand new cap I could see the rotor had grooved the individual electrodes . Herein lies my problem. The two distributor rebuilders I could find need a minimum of 3-4 weeks plus nearly $300 for their services. I contacted VPW and they had a NOS piece in stock for $300. I thought great send it and I am on the road. When I opened the package I was soon disappointed because the NOS dist. has no vacuum advance or any provisions for it(Steve at VPW I might have to return this). It looks to be a totally mechanical advance dist. It is Chrysler part #1321788 and also has 1a0 4114-1m 60 on the data tag. The dist off the truck is part number 2095957 with 1 br 4002b 4x on the tag. Does anyone know if these two interchange? Or does someone have a spare dist they want to sell. thanks for any advice.

john
