I doubt the premium fuel has any advantages other than the octane rating. It would make sense though if gas does go bad it would decrease in octane rating (ie go from 93 to 89 over a period of time). It has something to do with the carbonchains, paraffins etc breaking down over time and not so much the additives. So it takes longer for these higher octanes to breakdown assuming a linear rate for both the low and high octane fuels. But the Dodge Powerwagon was design for such a fuel. Despite the gumming, a Powerwagon should have no problem theoritcally due to the lower compression ratio (7.25 for WM300).
