take a look at the lower right corner of the differential(as you face the diff. cover),if it indeed has dana axles you should see a 44,60,or 70 in raised #'s, it probably has a 60 rear and a 44 front,however, i believe some 72-74 models used a 70 front,probably in the snowplow package. ive got a 1972(73 should be about the same) sales brochure and it lists the 318 as standard v8,360 was an option,727 was only auto avail,np205 divorce mtd. transfer case, gvw ranges 6500,7000, and 8000 lbs. maximum, as far as the axles go,a front dana 70 or even a dana 60 is a much larger unit than the 44,it should be readily apparent.....almost forgot,the dana 44 and 60 both would have the tie rod located forward of the axle like most other vehicles,while the dana 70 front axle has the tie rod behind the axle! very distinctive!
