My WC Carryall will do 65 or 80 down the freeway with no problems. It has basically the Power Wagon drive train and axles. It has a V8 and front disk brakes by Helitool. I also put 4.89 gears in the differentials. It has a few modern features and I could put in the AC without much problem. I went through everything, rebuilt everything. I feel perfectly safe at 65 and it will go all day at that speed. But it still is not a daily driver. I also gave up some of it 4X4 abilities by going with the V8 and the 4.89 gears.

You have to choose what you want the truck for and design it for that. Your not going to get a truck that will go freeway speeds and be good off road. The requirements are different. The PW was made for off road work with heavy loads. It was not made for modern highways. Mine does OK on the road, but the engine RPM is a too high for any fuel economy. The windshield wipers are a problem, they were not made for the higher speeds. The windshield will never be leak proof The gearing for off road is not really ideal for very ruff roads that require slow speeds. Unfortunately it is either too slow or too fast depending if your in lo or high range on the transfercase.

I would keep the PW as an offroad truck. Even starting with just a body. It will never be a great body for modern roads. It just was not built for it.
