EZ lube axles require double lip seals. The grease goes thru the spindle, comes out between the seal and the inner bearing. It then travels thru the outer bearing and can be easily seen thru the rrubber plug when it does. If the correct seals are used, grease should not be able to go by the seal.
A lot of people put the wrong size seals on when replacing them. The spindle jornals for 6-7,000 lb axles can be either 2-1/8 or 2-1/4. Always fiest fit the seal over the jornal BEFORE pressing it into the brake drum.
