You see a lot of them on boat trailers (and other small trailers) here, small boat trailers don't require brakes. Most owners pump the grease in to get any salt water out, but it makes a lot of mess and many of them have the seals blown out. I find it easier to pack the bearings yearly and make sure seals are good, rather than clean the mess off the hull, trailer and wheels.
