My truck seems to be evolving into an expedition vehicle as well. i have my eyes open for a jerry can mount but am not prepared to pay the $200 dollar price tag to get one to my door. One will turn up at some point - I need to get the grape vine working. I will be interested to see what you come up for in the way of a canopy. Last trip I had a big tarp that went over the roof, lots of tie downs and sticks needed to get it to work and it took too long in the rain.
So where do we mount the spare tire in our Carryalls? that 40 inch tire is too big to put inside - I did that last trip and it takes up too much room.
For years I have traveled with no spare and nothing more than a flat kit, only time i had an issue was when my portable compressor got "borrowed". Thats 20 years of no spare. But I seem to be way off the beaten track more these days, a side wall tear might hurt a bit without a spare.
