I did get a new drum and will spike and loctite the original. I throw it in the trailer for an emergency.

The trailer parts shop I went to is very good it has been around for 100years if I am correct. The was an older guy in there who was a wealth of information. He looked at my drum and was concerned about the amount of wear from the magnet with so little wear on the brake surface. He said it was a Chinese made drum and wonder about its metal composition.

I mentioned that the brakes were not working that well. When I bought the trailer. He said the drum that I brought in was definitely working. Then he asked what position that brake was in in terms of the electrical hookup daisy chain. I said that it was the first one. He said that makes sense. He stated most manufacturers daisy chain both the positive and ground wires on electric brakes. He suggested that I run a new ground wire from each brake to the frame right next to each brake. He stated that would improve the braking on the brakes at the of the daisy chain.

I also noticed that the wire going through the axles, which feeds the right side brakes, is much thinner that the feed wire from the front of the trailer to the left brakes. That means that there is less current getting to the right side brakes verses the left side. I am running a new heavier gauge wire from the left to the right side. I also have cut the ground wire feed wire from the front of the trailer as the front end is screwed to the frame at the pigtail is grounded. I may take the ground wire end by the brakes and screw it to the frame. So basically I have eliminated the ground wire between the brakes and have grounded each one individually to the frame.
