Unless I missed something a W 100 has a T-case.
And a 70 W100 has a part time case.
No transmission bearing is going to turn
With it in Park and the T-case in Neutral.
Pull the shaft if you want and tie it up as suggested, but it's not necessary.
Now if it's a D100 with out a Transfer case, then most definitely remove the shaft.
