I used a large split bearing separator and a T-puller to remove my steering wheel. I laid a bunch of rags between the bearing separator and the back of the steering wheel to protect the wheel. After applying a moderate amount of pressure on the puller I shocked the center screw with a hammer. The wheel popped right off. I also applied Kroil to the steering rod for a couple days before I tried the puller.
