The driver side is longer to protect the blackout driving light.
Early WCs had symmetrical headlight guards.
Civilian Power Wagons have bigger headlights placed further out on the fenders. So, a civilian truck needs its own style of headlight guard. They exists, and should be a bolt-on addition.
