Well I took the engines manifold assembly off
To access better the side valve covers to adjust the valves.

Interestingly none of the valves were what I would say too tight.
All exhaust valve to tappet gap measured in the 0.015" range (cold) and the intake valves at about where they should be in the 0.010" range (cold setting)

I tightened up all to what I could find on line, that is
Exhaust @ 0.013" cold and intake at 0.010" cold

I'm thinking as they were set on the loose side I should not have heard this "burbling" or miss, but I set them to what I read and will see where this goes

Now as I had it off I noticed the intake and exhaust manifold assembly wasn't exactly flat laying a straight edge metal square across the exhaust ports to the intake

So it's at the machine shop getting a flat mill across the
Entire assembly surface to be sure

I didn't see any indicators of any leakage in the form
Of carbon staining or burnt around the exhaust manifolds but I went this extra mile in machining the full assembly flat to be sure.

Heck it's already off right. And it's for sure not 100% flat.

New intake and manifold gaskets should be in today at oreillys.
Cleaned the engine block well where the gaskets go in preparation.

Sure hope this was the culprit.

Update after action report to come when the engine is
back together and run.
