Bought a 2012 3500 in March of 2012. Six speed auto. I tow a 40 foot imperial car hauler with two old Dodge trucks on occasion, a boat on occasion and various other trailers. I do not miss shifting gears and just turned 150k miles. I love the engine braking and use that in conjunction with the manual shift option in snow and ice to maintain better control in the winter. I have had zero issues to date. I have traditionally prefered a manual transmission. Automatic sure is nice in urban areas. I am quite satified with my choice. Hope that helps.
