I see my local Car Quest carries a GL-4 gear oil., SAE 90-95, brand is Bravo.
I just picked some up.
I've read here the GL-4 is "friendlier" to the old gearboxes than GL-5.
I would think SAE 140 might be too thick for you in the frozen north? I run 140 down here, less leak tendency but that is not too much of a problem since Wayne H helped me seal it up.
But like you say synthetic might flow well....
