You mentioned using 3 gaskets on 3/4 ton WCs. That is correct in some cases. If the WC differential has a ring welded to it only 1 gasket is needed. There are several axle housings used on 3/4 tons. Both 8 3/4 and 9 5/8 differentials were used.

If I remember correctly. You need to confirm for yourself.

On early axles with 8 3/4 differentials one gasket was used.

On axles with no ring welded on with early 9 5/8 differentials 3 gaskets are needed.

On later axles with ring welded on and 9 5/8 differential one gasket is needed.

Converting early axles with 8 3/4 differentials to 9 5/8 differentials required 3 gaskets and a little grinding on the bottom lip.
