After installing new tie rods, there should be no play, you don't want end-to-end play in the ends or rod. Well you say a professional did the alignment, did the equipment used, go back to your year truck to determine what the alignment should be, I'm assuming it was computerized, if not how did the professional determine what the toe-in should be, did the tech tell you? Did the tech change tire pressure before doing the alignment? Tires today run around 32 pounds, techs will set the pressure before doing the alignment not knowing any better for older vehicles especially a Military truck. Hopefully the tech did grease the tie rod ends, toe-in s/b 1/16 to 1/8th, and you s/b running about 45 pounds of tire pressure. If you start seeing feathered edges on the rear side of your tire bars, I think your running Military tires, then your alignment is not correct for your year.
