Also, just so you know, I posed this same question on this forum last year, and also did a bunch of digging in the archives, and even emailed a few people. In the end, there was quite a mix of answers, with some people saying they couldn't tell much difference between a 230, 251 and 265, while others said there was a huge difference. I would say there were roughly equal numbers in both camps, and then there were others who said there is a noticeable difference, but not worth the cost or effort to upgrade to the larger engine.
In the end, I decided to go for it because I already had the 230 out of the truck, so I could address some problems with that engine, and addressing those problems was going to take some effort and cost. Since I intend to keep my truck for the next 40 years, I wanted to do everything I desired, hopefully once and for all.
