My book covers the 5, 6, 7, and 8 and same number A series engines. There's an explanation that the letter after the number signifies something different to the base number engine. All the 251 ind engines have hardened seat inserts as well as quite a few other differences to the normal truck/car engines. All the heavy duty ones had sodium filled exhaust valves. I'll take a guess and say the F numbers are later engines than the A numbers. Don't go by the number stamped where the normal engine number is stamped, need to go by the number on the brass plaque.
