They are ment to get scraped by design. They need friction to stop from slipping and dropping the hood. You don’t want the hood to drop as you can cause significant damage to the cowl. Ask me I know and so does the body shop who dropped the hood. I made them fix the damage. Putting plastic on the rods will only make things slippery esp. the shrink tube.
