not for me. my slant 6 D300s got excellent mileage. 15 to 17. my poly trucks with stock carbs get 10 to 12 (way better than ford). I had a poly truck someone had put a 70s slant 6 2 barrel carb on and it was slow to accelerate but got 18 MPG! I put a stock carb on and dropped to 12 mpg but had tons more power.
