I agree on the points you mentioned, but the slant was the workhorse for many years following the flathead. One problem encountered when repowering is the mounting of the brake and transfer case levers and the retention of power take-off for the winch. Whatever set-up Dodge used would take care of all that.
On a light note...Both my father and I had boats powered by Chrysler Marine slant sixes. If the distributor were to get wet...we had bigger problems!...LOL.
