Tim is affiliated with George Asche, who is a long-time flathead racer and flathead rebuilder, since the 50's. George is now very up in years, but still doing his thing. I'm not sure if this car belongs to Tim or George.

I spoke with Tim at length, multiple times last year, and he recounted some stories of his father and grandfather. Sounded very interesting. And as you said in your earlier post below, he is a bit of an odd duck. I was going to get him and George to work with me on a mildly hopped up 265 engine for my Power Wagon, but he started getting concerned about my questions. I wanted new parts wherever possible, rather than reworked parts, which made him uncomfortable, even though I was willing to pay the difference. I was also going to get George to build a nice dual-carb setup for me, but when I asked if there would be any fine-tuning required once they were installed on my truck, that sent Tim into a tizzy. He's very sensitive about the thought that anyone might mess with the settings of George's multi-carb setups, and then blame George if things don't work right. I get that, but all I asked was whether any fine-tuning would be needed, and he immediately asumed I'm one of these types who cannot leave well enough alone and wants to tinker all the time, and I could not get him off that thought. He also could not get past the idea that I couldn't find 100 octane ethanol-free fuel in my area, or at least not anywhere within a reasonable distance from me. He said that temperatures in Texas, and my altitude (less than 2500 feet most of the time), would not let me run higher than about 6.5 - 7:1 compression ratio with normal pump gas (even 93 octane) without causing pinging. With my stock head from a 251, placed on a 265 bored 0.030, I will be at about 7.75:1. No matter how much I tried, I could not get him comfortable with my situation and my requests, and he backed away. Whenever I spoke with George, he seemed willing to continue on with me, but Tim seems to handle much of the business end of things, and dropped the hammer. It's probably just as well, because I got my block and crank reworked at a local machine shop. In the end, I got my dual carbs and headers from Langdon's Stovebolt, and the dual intake from a guy on eBay, so they got my business. I think George is perpetually backed up on work anyway.
