We have done 6bt swaps in a an '84 W350 crew cab, '76 Ramcharger, and '72 W200.

In each case, we took the entire diesel drivetrain from the radiator support to the axles, brakes, steering, dash and instruments out of a '92 W250. When changing it all, everything bolted right up, except for the t-case crossmember on the Ramcharger, because the 1/2-ton frame isn't as tall.

In the early diesel trucks, they uses a 3 speed automatic with 3.07 gears. The later overdrive trans and 3.54 gears is much nicer to drive. My friend combined 3.07 gears and overdrive, which is also pretty nice. If your W350 has low gears, it won;t be happy with a Cummins and no overdrive.
