I found that those finishes scratch easy too for a long time. I have tried Danish Tung Oil and after a few coats rubbed in it looks nice and the finish is hard! Also easy touch up later just another light coat of Tung Oil and good as new again. I used it on my work shop table that has a Cherry Wood top. The spar finishes never held up to things dragging around on it and even my finger nail could scratch it?
