As someone who did a lot of "modernization" on their truck I have to say that I'm not sure these things will end up sitting around as garage art. There's no long term profit in someone else's vision of a Power Wagon.

The only reason to modernize the truck is because you do want to drive it to the store or to work, and let's be honest that's just not possible with a stock truck in most places. They are too slow and cumbersome compared to modern cars, and to be honest it's really nice having the convenience of a modern vehicle. Sure you may not need or want all the modern gadgetry, but I wouldn't own a car without power locks and cruise control today that wasn't a toy.

I would love to have a completely original PW, but living in a city that means a place to keep it, a trailer to haul it to PW rallies and a modern truck that can tow it there. That's a rich guy's game, Power Wagon's as toys to play in the dirt.

I share your fear about great original parts being hacked up but unless I'm willing to spend the money to go buy them myself and horde them to prevent it from happening I don't have much right to cry too loudly.
