OK, this is exactly the sort of application that the original POR is marketed for. I've never used it. However, I did get some experience with it due to the previous owner of my '60 B140 having applied it to the oilpan. When doing so he also slopped some of it around on the tailgate which was apparently where he painted the oilpan with a brush. Anyway, that bit of silverish POR was extremely tough compared to any of the paint around it. Yes, this was not applied on surface rusted bare metal but the *claim* from POR is that is the preferred substrate for this product. YMMV...
