My father, who is 91, just fell down while taking a walk and broke 3 ribs. he was chasing nurses a few days later and came home to recuperate. (We are getting my home ready for the "next incident") He has complained of dizziness lately and according to him, his doctor, says not much he can do about it. When recovering from the broken ribs, they sent an occupational therapist to look in on him and the home. He gave the best advise of all. Whenever changing body position, from sitting down to standing up, or getting out of bed, etc, move slowly and let the inner ear stabilize. I watched him while the therapist was there and the phone rang. He tried to spin quickly and get to the phone so he could answer that #$%^ phone solicitor. He felt a twinge of dizziness by turning suddenly and starting to walk fast. I am trying to get him to take a couple of seconds before walking after he stands up etc. he understands the concept but will he remember to do it? I am starting to try that process myself now so i wont have to learn it when I'm 90.
