I've got an Offenhauser dual-carb aluminum intake and two NOS carter carbs to go on it. I don't remember the model number of the carbs, but they have mechanical accelerator pumps, instead the vacuum ones used on my stock carb. I bought the NOS carbs for cheap when Vintage Power Wagons came to the Dallas-Ft. Worth area to sell parts and trucks belonging to Red Bud Surplus. This was several years ago, and I was told that those two NOS carbs would work well on a dual-carb manifold.

I also thought it would be nice to put on a small 4-barrel or even a 2-barrel, but I don't know of any manifolds or adapters that will allow me to do that with this engine, so I went with the dual-carb setup. Hopefully, I'm not asking for a bunch of extra work in having to make adjustments from now on, to keep the two carbs synchronized. We'll see.

I also bought a cam kit from VPW recently, and a crane electronic ignition setup to go into a recently acquired vacuum advance distributor. I have yet to install the electronic ignition setup. I'm trying to cover all bases to get some more grunt and efficiency out the engine, without going to a different engine. I like being able to pull out the choke and step on the starter pedal, to hear the beast come to life. I also think it's cool to pop the hood and surprise people with the appearance of the flathead. Most people these days have never seen something like that, and they usually seem to enjoy it.

I'll be interested to hear how yours is coming along!

Take care,

Matt
