Dave,

I did the "DODGE" lettering on the tailgate of my 1952 B3C this spring. I used base coat/clear coat. I prepped the tailgate and sprayed the silver base over the whole DODGE name in the evening. Then, the next morning, I layed the tailgate on a table and covered over each letter with masking tape, using an xacto knife to trim the edges. Use as many straight edges of the masking tape on the letters as you can so that you only need to trim the corners. Once you have the letters covered(be sure the edges dont pull up), spray the rest of the tailgate with the other base color (black). When that dries, pull the tape off of the letters and spray the whole tailgate with 2 coats of clear. If you take your time, you'll get good results. It is recommended to cover the base coats in clear within 24 hours. Good Luck.
