Sounds like you have a lot of time on your hands. I would email the prospective buyer 10 pictures and as detailed descr1ption as possible. Leave it to the buyer to come out or send a representative to look at the vehicle. Then you can charge whatever you two agree on for transportation once the truck is sold.

Your way has a high risk of hurt feelings. The prospective buyer might try to talk you down on the price once you have carried the truck all that way knowing you don't want to waste a trip. On the other hand, he sure wouldn't be happy at paying $500 just to look at a truck he is not going to buy especially if money is as tight with him as you say. He will be sure to say you misrepresented the truck.

I wouldn't do it your way unless I had a burning desire to travel. This process is not usually done for a good reason. It doesn't work very well.

You asked for my two cents, so there it is. There are lots of other ways to sell a truck. Pick one. Post the truck here in the classifieds and let us Californians have first crack at it.
