Using Corn Head Grease in a leaking steering gear is just a Band Aid repair IMHO. I had the same problem with a 1/2 ton NOS steering gear I installed in my truck over 25 years ago. After about a month, it started leaking just like the one that was on the truck when I purchased it. So for the next 25 years or so I tried everything from CHG to Caterpillar 00 track lubricant grease. After a short time the steering gear would still leak. Well, last year I finally did something about it. I took the gear apart and made my own housing bracket gasket and used a metric oil seal on the steering gear shaft. It's been over a year now and using 90wt gear oil in the box, not one drop has leaked out. When installing the housing bracket to the housing assembly I used #2 Permatex on both mating surfaces, since Dodge in it's wisdom did not even use a gasket to mate the two units together.
