I did something similar with a '68 Frame/Body and '64 Running Gear.
The hardest part was moving frame brackets around with grinding and drilling. You'll also have to worry about rear driveshaft length since the '64 is a shorter wheelbase (as you mention).
I love my mutt - it isn't stock, but only the true Sweptline fanatics know this.
