There are possibly variations of that axle over time and things like the wear items he needs might be slightly different.

If his serial number is after the listed change in the parts book I would just assume it is original. If he wants to verify further the date of production is stamped into the ring gear. Pull the rear cover and rotate the ring gear until you see the numbers. If it is a late 1957 or 1958 date it is likely original.

Once he's sure of what he's got I'd guess DC has most of the parts he needs. Back when I last did one a local auto parts store ordered in everything I needed, but that was 2001. I actually specified W200 parts as there was some confusion in the then current suppliers parts books and I didn't want to end up with semi floater parts.
